Without further adieu our NYC trip!!!

I'm sorry I am so bad at Blogging...its been what 4 months...SORRY, they have gone by so fast! Hopefully I can catch you up on what has happened since then in the coming weeks.

We got there Thursday afternoon and that night we went and ate dinner with a friend of mine that I met when I lived there that worked with my sister, Amy. We had a great time catching up and ending up walking around Times Square after and ending up finding the Soup Nazi from Seinfield.
NO Soup for YOU!

Friday we went on a bus tour of uptown. We got to see where John Lennon was shot, Grants tomb, Harlem, and Museum mile, plus many more. It was raining so we didn't take many pictures that day and didn't get off the bus but it was good to see all of these places. That night we ate at Gallaghers and went and saw WICKED! Dinner was good, but we decided we don't like steak that is aged. WICKED was awesome and I loved it! This is the only picture of that day.
On Saturday we woke up and rode the downtown loop of the bus tour and had stops like Empire State Building, Flat Iron building, Ground Zero, China Town, Little Italy, and tons more.
We got off at the Empire State Building, but since the line was too long, we decided to go to Macy's instead. They were having a Flower show and it was so cool. Here are some pics.
They were so pretty...We went all the way up to all the floor and there were a ton, at about the 6th floor the escalators change and Chris with his construction background absolutely loved what we found. It was the first that we had ever seen...what were they you ask...Wooden Escalators! They were actually really cool and it was neat to go back in time like that!
After that we walked around, we saw the Flat Iron building, but one of the things I wanted to do was see Chelsea Market, Greenwich Village & the Meat Packing District. So we walked from the Empire State building all the way there, and let me tell you it wasn't a short walk either! Chelsea Market was so cool Chris and I were both glad that we took that extra time to do it. After that we got back on the Bus and went to see the Financial District, Ground Zero, Battery Park and the Statue of Liberty...we didn't get off b/c we were tired from our trek and we wanted to see more of NYC then just the major attractions that take half a day since we didn't have a long time there...but it was cool to see from the Bus. We did get off though at China Town and Little Italy and ate a late lunch there, OMGoodness it was so amazing we decided next time we go we may eat there the entire time.
After our lunch we hopped back on the bus and rode it up to Rockefeller Center. At this point we did what was one of my favorite things of the trip...Since we decided not to go up to the top of the Empire State Building we decided to do something neither of us had done before...We went to the TOP OF THE ROCK! Oh my it was amazing, having officially been to both I can honestly say that my all time fav is the ROCK! We were able to see everything, the SoL, Chrysler building, ESB, and most of all Central Park. You dont have as good of view of Central Park from the ESB as you do the rock. I was so glad that we did this! Here are a couple of my fav pics...
Empire State BuildingStatue of Liberty
Central Park
Us at Top of the Rock with ESB! One of my fav pics from the trip!

After this we went and took a nap. For Dinner that night we went to Hells Kitchen and ate at a restaurant there. Again great food. Before bed we went back to Times Square for a pic since we hadn't gotten one yet and it was our last night.
Sunday, was my favorite day b/c we didn't have anything planned and we were able to just walk around...and when I say walk...I mean walk. We started at our hotel which was on 8th and 47th...we walked to a little place on 9th and 42nd to eat crepes for breakfast and then decided to make our way to Central Park. My entire goal was to see "The Boathouse". Since watching 27 dresses, Sex in the City and countless other movies I just wanted to see it. Turns out it was like 2 miles...I had no idea! Luckily on the way we got to see Columbus Circle and stop in a few shops, and Strawberry Fields in Central Park. We we finally stumbled on the Boathouse I had no ideal what all was around it. It was like I had stumbled onto the best Movie set EVER!!!!
The Boathouse is in the Background, but the fountain, can we say, Hitch and The Wedding Planner and how about this one, it is opposite the fountain
Can we Say Home Alone 2 where he is getting chased! I was in heaven finding this!
From here we walked another 2 miles to Grand Central Station, which we found the NY Public Library on the way....Amy had told us about the Whispering Walls at GCS outside of the Oyster BarThey are so cool! This is how it works, if one person stands facing the corner and the other person faces the corner diagonally across from you and you whisper into the corner you can hear the other person!!! Chris and I did this and it was so cool! We were so impressed! I am so glad we made this little stop! After GCS we stopped by the Library...Chris was so glad we did b/c he loved the architecture and design of it, I was mad at myself after b/c I found out that the original Characters from Winnie the Pooh were there and I missed them! I loved them growing up!
New York Public Library

After this it was time for us to head back to the hotel and then to the airport. In total we walked like 5 miles that day and who know how many throughout the trip but it was worth it. We got one last pic of 5th Ave one of my favorite Streets.See all those CABS ! That's NYC for you!
All in all it was a great way to celebrate my 30th Birthday! Thanks to my amazing husband for setting it all up and surprising me with it! It was a great visit and can't wait to go back! I think next time we will stay Downtown and see what all it has to offer. Have a great day!

Day 29: 3 Wishes

Three wishes...this should be easy
  1. I wish that I could see everyone I wanted anytime I wanted, that's the hard part of being so far away
  2. I wish that someone would come clean my house, do my laundry and dishes everyday...It would be so nice :)
  3. I wish that my hair was straight, it would make my life so much easier in the mornings and cut my time getting ready in half so I could sleep later :) Its all about sleep you know...
I know these are silly wishes, but I guess I don't wish too much...

Day 28: Something that stresses you out

Well, I am a stresser...there are numerous things that stress me out. Whether at work or at home I am such a stresser!
  • On a daily work basis the main stresser is E-Verify! Anytime I have to run E-verify I stress, there are so many things that can go wrong that it totally has come to stress me out especially if its a permanent residence. That and the system is so funky that any little thing can set it off to go wrong! Oh how it stresses me out even thinking about it!!!!
  • As for a constant stresser...money, I always worry if we have enough or if we are spending to much, I have anxiety about making big purchase for fear that it will be the wrong choice
  • If I am living the life I should, by eating healthy, treating others with respect, have I made the right decisions in the past to get us where we want to be in the future
  • Today, will I get everything done that I need to get done before we leave this weekend, and this may be for every trip I take...I need more hours in the day!
  • Have I forgotten something...I hate forgetting anything so I really stress about it.
Well those are just a few...there are tons more but to go on I may

Day 27-Pets

We only have one...Miss Daisy, and we love her so! She is a pomapoo. She was Chris's but I have completely adopted her and she knows who her momma is. She can hardly stand it when I come home after work for me not to pay attention to her. I have to pick her up immediately so that she can say hi to me, and I so can get her to stop barking. She also completely sleeps on my side, at my pillow, so much so that she is sometimes my pillow, but she loves it and I wouldn't trade her for anything. She is super sweet and loves everyone, and she will lick you to death...so if you ever meet her you better watch your nose, she has a fast tongue and it can get up there faster than you would likeBeing her prissy self, posing for momma
Her favorite place when we're not home, her daddy's pillow Her favorite place when we're home so she can be with us the entire time, Chris call her his shadow Her favorite spot on car trips...on top of my pillow, which in turn means on top of my head while I am sleeping, please excuse my no makeup, sleeping self :)

Day 26-Picture of your family

Day 24-Something you've learned

Something I've learned...Well there are a lot of things but I will just go with my gut on these
  • Always forgive, yourself and others
  • Always try to do things with a smile, you never know who's day you will make
  • Go with your gut, it's normally right, just trust it
  • Don't pray for patience, God will test you!!!
  • If I am tired or hungry I get cranky!!!
  • I do not like getting out of bed, and really don't want to talk to anyone for at least an hour
  • Hugs make me feel better and loved
  • I am not a good cleaner...and I hate it
  • All the glory goes to God and things happen because of him, not me, which he has continued to show me throughout my life. I may have things planned but he makes sure that it goes to the last minute so I know that it couldn't have happened any other way except for him
  • Love is a choice that needs to be made daily
Hope you enjoyed my little lessons :)

Day 23-Favorite vacation

Favorite Vacation...How in the world do I choose, I love vacations!

First I will have to go with the good ole trip to Jamaica with the bestie, Age. This was not only a great trip for us, but it is also the trip that I met CP on...

Our Cruise to Tortola, oh how we want to go back, so BEAUTIFUL!
DISNEY!!!!!
My Sports Vacation to Surprise, AZ for the Rangers Spring Training! It was awesome!!!
I am sure I will have more to add to this after our trip to NYC for my birthday :)

Day 22: What's in your Make-up BAG?!?!?!?

BAG, BAG, I only get one BAG????? LOL, just kidding! I love make-up, I think this post is for me! There have been numerous occasions when I have had more than one make-up bag, I love it! But I have recently tried to start controlling my addiction and cut back. I sometimes think that I missed my calling to become a Make-up artist, I have done numerous friend's make-up for their wedding and even did my own on my wedding day, maybe one day I'll do it in a second career...Now on with the show!
The BAG!!!
The Majority of it's contents! FYI, I love MAC if you can't tell :)

Day 20: Nicknames

My Nicknames and where they come from:

Am, Ams,
Am Jam and AJ - all started from family, basically just an abbreviation of my name Amber Janae, I even dropped Lee when I got married so I could still officially be Am Jam and AJ. AJ is one of my favorite, because if you call me that you truly are someone that is close to me.

Ambular - this started freshman year of college by some of my besties, we're not sure why they started calling me this, but it is from Clueless. I think we just thought it was funny and it stuck, 10 years later they are still calling me that :)

Saturday, March 19, 2011

Day 19: Something you miss

So this could be so long
  1. My family, first and foremost
  2. My besties, you know who you are, I wish I could see you soon!
  3. TexMex...oh goodness what I would do for some good ole texmex, thank goodness for OTB out here
  4. Every other hometown restaurant in Waco, Leals, George's (they showed crazy wings on tv a couple of weeks ago during college gameday in Waco and it was torcher, I almost cried!), LaFiesta, Vitek, Kitok, Uncle Dans...need I go on, I am just making myself sad.
  5. Baylor games of all sports
  6. My Tuesday Crew, all of us got together at happy hour on Tuesdays just to hang out
  7. Multi-Lane Highways...way too many 2 lane roads around here that have to maneuver around rivers, I spend have my time driving b/c it takes so long to get anywhere in this town
  8. All of my friends and family being in the Central Time Zone, these 2-3 hour differences make it really hard to keep in touch and its not much fun. Plus its much better for watching sports at night!
Ok this is all for now...I hope I didnt bore you

Friday, March 18, 2011

Day 18: Something I regret

I do my best to live my life without regrets because I feel as though I have learned something with everything that I have done. There are times I do have regrets, like if I lose self control and say hurtful things to those I love, that I don't mean. But I believe that all of us have those regrets. I feel as though when you have regrets you feel guilty and living with guilt is not easy or the way to go through life. One of the hardest things is forgiving yourself so that you don't have to live with the regrets and take those things and learn from them. And remember that God has already forgiven you and doesn't keep track of those regrets.

Thursday, March 17, 2011

Day 17: Something I am looking forward to

Well there are a couple of things....

  • Our one year Anniversary in June...not sure what we are doing yet, but hopefully it will be fun
  • The next time I see my besties! not sure when it will be, but I will be looking forward to it
That's about it for now, not much else is planned.

Wednesday, March 16, 2011

Day 16: Dream House

WOW...well I have never really been one to dream about a house...just not my thing...CP dreams about it more than I do, and to be honest he is much better at it than myself...I know I want a one story house and CP want some land...he has it all planned out, and would love to build one for us himself since he has the know how...I just know I want to make every house we have a home for our family and that is my dream house.

Sunday, March 13, 2011

Day 13: Goals

Goals...Well, I have never been the type of person to sit down and make Goals for myself...that's just not how I am wired, I am more of a go with the flow type of person. If there is something I want to do I do it. So I will try to see what I come up with...

1. Get our debt paid down
2. Save as much money as we can

3. Not buy things we don't need or wont use

4. Cook more
5. Try to be a better housekeeper, cause I am not good at it!
6. Try to take better care of myself, as in eat healthier and workout.

7. Not worry about tomorrow

8. Be more creative

9. Enjoy life
10. Love Harder

I guess those will do for now!

Day 12-What you believe

I believe in God.
I believe that He sent his son Jesus Christ to be an example of how we should live.
I believe Jesus Christ died for our sins.
I believe Christ rose from the dead and ascended to heaven.
I believe in heaven.
I believe in treating others the way I'd want to be treated.
I believe in the healing power of prayer.
I believe actions speak louder than words.
I believe we all screw up.
I believe in forgiving others for their screw ups.
I believe cheese makes everything better.
I believe in second chances.
I believe that Christians are called to love and not judge- regardless of race, gender, sexuality, beliefs, mistakes, or political parties.
I believe Christ calls us to love as he first loved us.
I believe I have been blessed infinitely more than I deserve.
I believe that it is important to let everyone I know I love them everyday, because tomorrow is not promised.
I believe GOD. IS. LOVE.
I believe love wins.

First and foremost is something happening to anyone that I love, that being Chris, my family and friends.
Second, is that my parents wont be around for when I have kids, I want so bad to be able to share that with my parents
Third, Roaches....I hate them and am such a scared girly girl. I stand on furniture and yell for Chris...eeek!
